South Battle Mountain - Eureka Trend
History and Exploration Target
The Battle Mountain - Eureka Trend has produced approximately 23 million ounces of gold over the past thirty years making it the second most productive belt in Nevada after the Carlin Trend. Much of the recent production is from Placer Dome's 11.7MM oz Pipeline- Pediment deposit. The discovery of the ET Blue deposit in late 2002 and the Cortez Hills deposit (5.5 Mozs measured, indicated and inferred resources), both owned by the Cortez Joint Venture (Barrick and Kennecott Explorations), has boosted interest in the trend. It has been reported that past and future resources along the sixteen kilometre zone from Pipeline to Cortez pediment can easily exceed 30Mozs, making it the second most important gold trend in Nevada.
Target Generation and Acquisition
The company has acquired a 100 percent interest in thirteen projects totaling 1,354 claims and 129 hectares of patented ground for approx. + 41 sq. mi. Bravo has utilized Landsat and Digital Elevation Imagery interpretation, regional geophysical surveys bedrock mapping and sampling, enzyme leach geochemistry surveys and proximity to productive mining districts to evaluate and select strategic properties within the Trend. The Cortez Trend is a west-northwest gold/silver belt lying within the 150 mile long Battle Mountain-Eureka trend that runs parallel to the Carlin Gold belt.
Mountain Boy (164 claims- approx. 1400ha) - Signal Project
Located in the northwestern portion of the Eureka Mining District, the project is west and southwest of Barrick's Ruby Hill Mine which has produced 670,000 ounces of gold and has a proven plus probable reserve of 1.0 million ounces. Previous exploration drilling intersected extensive areas with 0.3 to 1.0 g/t Au, with locally higher grades. Structurally controlled mineralization, such as occurs at the Cortez Hills deposit, will be the focus of Bravo's work at Mtn Boy. Bravo's claims combine the six original claim blocks into three separate prospects. Signal (now 164 claims), Temple (now 32 claims), and Shiva (33 claims). At the Signal project, twelve holes were completed for a total of 2,062 metres of the planned 3,500-metre program before drilling was discontinued for the season. The program is expected to resume in the late spring or early summer. Click here to view the Tech Report on the Signal Project. Thick zones of oxidized, potentially leach-grade gold (generally <1.0 g/t Au) were intersected at the Main Signal target area, near the unconformity between Mississippian clastic rocks and underlying Devils Gate Limestone. Holes SI06001, -002, -004, and -009 (see attached table and figures) intersected the strongest mineralization, and all are located along a northerly trending high-angle fault that may have been an important feeder for the mineralization. Only limited historic drilling tested this fault. The Holes -005 and -012 lie near another northerly trending potential feeder fault, located 350 metres to the west. Mineralization at both areas is associated with jasperoid development, decalcification, oxidation of iron minerals, and pathfinder elements that are typical of Carlin-style gold mineralization. Recent and historic drilling are being evaluated utilizing metal zoning and 3D modeling in order to plan the remainder of the drill program. Future work will focus on identifying cross faults that may host significantly higher grades and thicknesses of mineralization, and may include testing of deeper stratigraphic horizons adjacent to feeder faults. One possible deeper target is the Yellow Bed member of the Devonian-age upper Simonson formation, which underlies the Devils Gate Limestone. The Yellow Bed member formed during a period of low sea level, resulting in erosion and karst formation along this unconformity, and is the time-equivalent of the Denay formation, host to significant gold mineralization elsewhere in the southern Battle-Mountain/Eureka gold trend.
South Lone Mountain (400 claims - ~ 3,237ha/8,000 acres)
Previous partner, Placer Dome US, Inc., permitted and bonded 32 sites and completed an initial nine-hole, 3,514 metre reverse-circulation and mud-rotary drilling program prior to their take over by Barrick. Low-level gold values and anomalous pathfinder elements that are often associated with Carlin type gold systems were encountered in one of the two areas drill tested. A second-phase drill program was completed by the company to further evaluate important Lower Plate host rocks hidden by younger gravel cover. The recent drill program consisted of one exploratory hole drilled in early 2008 that attempted to test the contact between the Ninemile and Goodwin formations, which hosts strong gold mineralization at the Ruby Hill mine.
SF Claims (102 claims - ~826ha/2,040 acres)
Located within the original Placer Dome - Kennecott Cortez Joint Venture area, it is within 5 kilometres of the historic Buckhorn Mine (1.5MM oz gold, production/resource) and 10 kilometres of Placer Dome's ET Blue discovery. Anomalous pathfinder elements were detected on an earlier enzyme leach geochem survey, which suggest that oxidation cells have formed at depth. Rock units found at the surface are limey and siliceous phases of the Ordovician Vinini formation, and they have anomalous indicator elements along mapped faults and in carbonate rocks. Gold anomalies occurring in silicified upper plate rocks are exposed to the North of the SF claims.
Gabel Canyon Claims (63 claims - ~510ha/1,260 acres)
Prospective Lower Plate carbonates are exposed on this 63-claim (approximately 500 ha) project. Wide-spread alteration and anomalous geochemistry are suggestive of a Carlin-type gold system. Historic drilling concentrated on Devonian host rocks leaving untested deeper Roberts Mountains formation. Targeting has been completed and a drilling permit and bond are in place for an initial drill test.
HO Claims (49 claims- ~ 397ha/980 acres)
Located approximately 15 km east of Placer Dome's ET Blue deposit. This gravel covered property covers the intersection of a prominent NE-trending horst block and NEW-trending lineaments observed on the regional gravity. Gold mineralization is exposed nearby at Red Canyon (Miranda/Placer Dome). One mud-rotary drill hole was completed to 427 metres to determine basement lithology, alteration, and possible mineralization based on Bravo's details surface chemistry, detailed gravity, and lineament study for this pediment-covered project. The hole intersected gravel, lake sediments, and ended in unaltered tuffaceous sandstone.
South Gold Bar Claims (18 claims - ~146ha/360 acres)
Targeting has been completed at South Gold Bar where at least one mud-rotary hole (minimum of 460metres) is planned to determine basement lithology, alteration and possible mineralization.
Three Bar Claims (145 claims - approx. 1,174ha/2,900 acres)
Untested faults are revealed by detailed gravity geophysics at the 145-claim (approximately1,200 ha) 3-Bar prospect. Historic drilling demonstrated wide-spread anomalous gold hosted by favourable Lower Plate carbonate host rocks beneath thin gravel cover. Bravo has permitted and bonded two holes for an initial 2008 drill program to test possible “feeder” faults cutting Devonian Lower Plate carbonate hostrocks identified by geophysics and historic drilling under thin gravel cover.
Pete Hanson Claims (191 claims - ~1,546ha/3,820 acres)
This project consists of 191 claims (approximately 1500 ha), located east of Tonkin Springs. Previous project work included detailed mapping and rock-chip sampling, soil and gas geochemistry, magnetics and gravity geophysics.
North Lone Mountain (81 claims - ~656ha/1,620 acres)
Located approximately 5 kilometers (3.5 mi.) south of the Gold Pick deposit cluster and 8½ kilometers (5 mi.) east of the Gold Bar mine. Along a distinct Battle Mountain/Eureka trend gravity map anomaly associated with several Landsat lineament intersections. Favourable stratigraphy includes basal Webb Fm (Rain-type target) west of Bravo's claims. Shallow depth to sediments is indicated by drill chips of Lone Mtn Dolomite at the western edge of the southern claims. Most of the claims are located east of Devonian limestone outcrop, which has been dolomitized and variably silicified.
Granite Mountain (Patented 1/2 section - 129 ha/320 acres)
Bravo is currently evaluating the drill data from previous J/V partner Agnico Eagle in detail to better identify targets for future drill programs. The Granite Mountain project consists of 129 hectares (320 acres) of private land located approximately 10 kilometers north of the Pipeline gold mine in Lander County, within the Battle Mountain-Eureka Gold trend. Results from a limited number (eight) of surface samples returned up to 0.50 g/t Au in an argillized granodiorite sill. Detectable gold was found in all eight samples with ICP values suggestive of a productive gold system.
Shoshone Pedment Project (70 claims- 567 ha/1,400 acres)
The project consists of 70 claims (approximately two square miles) and is located about 25 miles northwest of the Cortez Hills deposit along projection of the Cortez Fault zone, has potential for Cortez-style mineralization (e.g. Cortez Hills, Pediment, Hilltop), as well as low-sulphidation-style gold mineralization (e.g. Mule Canyon, Fire Creek). The company completed an initial drill test of 762 metres with a mud-rotary rig failed to encounter bedrock to the targeted depth, making the southwestern portion of the project unattractive. The exposed Upper Plate rocks in the northern and eastern portions of the project will be re-evaluated as time permits. Developed by Placer Dome geologists, the early stage Shoshone Project is situated within an area largely covered by older Quatermary or Tertiary gravel. Rare bedrock exposures in the eastern portion of the claims consist of Devonian Slaven Chert, with interbeds of limestone. White Knight Resources Ltd.'s Slaven Canyon property is immediately to the southeast and Newmont's Mule Canyon Mine is approximately four miles to the northeast. Joe Kizis, Jr. P.Geo, is the Qualified Person responsible for reviewing the technical results reported for the Company's Nevada projects. |
